A Quick Look at the Most Anticipated Cars of 2012

2012 is a very interesting year for the automotive industry as it tries to deal with various environmental problems (gas consumption) while wooing car enthusiasts with intricate design and power road vehicles. Although most cars focus either on efficient gas consumption or power, some vehicles of 2012 will have both features.

The New VW Golf

As a classic Volkswagen vehicle, it’s also fuel efficient with enough power to haul a family with its luggage.

Mercedes CLC
The beautiful two-door vehicle by Mercedes is one of the most anticipated cars of the year but not just because of its aesthetic looks and luxury f. The upcoming vehicle has received rave reviews during its stint in various auto shows and a four-door version with the same hatchback look makes the design even more interesting

Unusual Car Colours

The colour of a car can change the way people perceive its driver and can increase or decrease the vehicles resale value. Some cars are famous for being in a certain colour, such as a red Ferrari or a black cab others famous cars are popular in a multitude of shades and tones including minis and VW golfs. The colour is usually the first thing a person will notice when they see a vehicle, especially if they are not aware of the different car manufactures.
Some luxury car manufacturers have understood this concept and created special edition versions of their cars with unusual paint jobs. We have included three of the latest trends below;
The Matte Black Rolls Royce
One of the latest trends in the automobile world is the colour matte black. The shade of black is not reflective and makes the vehicle look like a car on a frosty day. The Rolls Royce Phantom was one of the first cars to be coated in the shade and created a lot of discussion.
Following the popularity of the matte black phantom, other companies have started producing their cars in the colour, garages have offered matt black vinyl coverings to make your car matte black and even make up companies have adopted the colour in their products.

All Chrome Bugatti
If the Matte Black Rolls Royce doesn’t make you stand out enough, the all chrome Bugatti may just be your car of choice. The Bugatti Veyron is already one of the most stand-out and expensive vehicles a person could purchase. The chromed Bugatti turns your looks comes with a black stripe in the center which perfectly complements the colour. The best thing about it is that the colour is applied to a Bugatti Veyron which is one of the most powerful sports vehicles in the world.

Mercedes Benz with Diamonds
To celebrate the Diamond Anniversary of the Mercedes SL Class the company released a limited edition, Diamond Encrusted Mercedes SL Class. Only 50 vehicles were produced and each is expected to sell for approximately $4.8 million, making the cars one of the most expensive in the world

The Evolution of McLaren Road Cars

McLaren is one of the leaders in the car manufacturing industry because of their ability to push the boundaries in making the fasters road vehicles. Although they are known to be expensive, they always ensure that their buyers get what they pay for through quality and power of the McLaren vehicle.
The McLaren Mustang and F1
The McLaren Mustang is one of the first road vehicles and became available to the public during the late 80s. It’s practically a road vehicle with technology that can rival the McLaren F1 racing cars. These are powerful but highly maneuverable. Many do not regard the McLaren Mustang as its first road vehicle because it’s practically a concept (only ten were made).
The F1 is the first road vehicle from McLaren with the capacity to the speed of 60mph in just three seconds. It’s the fastest car during the early 90s and its successors became leaders in racing circuits such as Le Mans 24 Hours.
McLaren Mercedes MP4/98T
Another popular vehicle from McLaren road cars is the McLaren Mercedes MP4/98T which provides additional seating at the back for passengers. This became a very popular vehicle because it allows a passenger to experience the speed of a McLaren car without driving.
McLaren MP4-12C HS
The latest iteration from McLaren is currently its most popular vehicle. The McLaren MP4-12C HS (High Sport) is a gorgeous vehicle specifically built for speed. The vehicle will feature carbon fiber in most of its parts to ensure it’s lightweight but strong enough to handle the unspecified horsepower of the vehicle.

The Legendary Mercedes SL

Mercedes SL’s are a highly popular series of vehicles due to their beauty and the way they embody power. Introduced in 1954, the SL stands for the German phrase, “Sport Leicht” which means “Sports Lightweight”. After more than six decades, the Mercedes SL class still ranks among the best grand tourer vehicles in the world.
Everything started with the 1954 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. It’s a beautiful vehicle inside and out and it’s most distinctive feature is the upward motion of its doors. The vehicle comes with 225hp which is more than enough for a standard road vehicle during the 50s.
The introduction of the 1963 SL class set another feat for Mercedes. The attractive vehicle features a lower body and increased windows even on the convertibles. The 1963 SL is also known for its variety of versions. The first SL only comes with 4-speed manual transmission but the 1963 version comes with 4-speed manual and auto as well as the 5-speed manual.
The third generation of SLs may have started in 1972 but it was the latest 3rd generation model released in 1989 that made the biggest impact. Every advantage on the vehicle learned by Mercedes on the past were applied on the 1989 SL such as bigger discs and the use of pot breaks for better control.
The 5th generation Mercedes SL available in 2008 is regarded as the epitome of the SL in modern era. The beautiful facelift on the front with the same design as the original 1954 model made it a popular choice among car collectors as well as those who want something more than just a basic road vehicle.

Ford Focus ST Review

Ford is constantly looking for ways to bridge consumers with performance vehicles that focus on speed and manoeuvrability. After releasing a couple of signature series under the name Focus, since 1998, Ford finally revealed the Ford Focus ST for the first time in 2005. With a top speed of 152mph, Ford Focus ST had been the fastest hot hatch of its time until 2009, when the automaker released the second RS model.
At first glance, it looks like a budget-friendly Aston Martin look-a-like, due to its front grill and hatchback design. When it comes to design, Ford Focus is a little bit off the track with the addition of the whale tale. The addition of the whale tale at the back makes it look like a vehicle from the late 90s and early 2000 but it comes with a distinct functionality to ensure the car’s stability. Exhaustive tests are impressive when it comes to manoeuvrability because it can easily breeze through challenging wind conditions especially in high speed.
The Ford Focus ST may not have its own design style but the vehicle is extraordinary inside and has a sensational handling and steering. The family car doesn’t have a lot of space for four passengers but the dashboard makes up for everything as it comes with information with practically everything – including the turbo boost and the engine temperature. If you’re looking for performance vehicle, the Ford Focus ST can be your perfect car with a family friendly design.
The maximum speed of Ford Focus ST is 152mph with their 2.5-litre engine and with the addition of impressive maneuverability through its five-cylinder engine, taking over vehicles becomes a lot easier.
However, its big engine might slow you down after all, as it gets quite ‘thirsty’ especially when under pressure. And while the maximum speed is already impressive, many believe that the Focus ST could go faster.

Electric DeLorean to be released in 2013

The DeLorean is one of the iconic film vehicles made popular by the sci-fi trilogy “Back to the Future”. Although the car itself is not the best in the world when it comes to engine power, the design alone can easily turn heads and make people reminisce of the amazing film. The car’s design is currently owned by the DeLorean Motor Company which was revived solely to produce the iconic vehicle (properly called the DMC-12).

The DeLorean Motor Company or the DMC is a relatively small company and it should come as a surprise when they recently announced that an all-electric version of the popular DMC vehicle is coming in 2013. The vehicle will feature a maximum speed of 125mph and could cost no less than $90,000. For every film and sci-fi buff, the all-electric DeLorean actually makes perfect sense since it represents time travel.
But aside from its iconic representation, the all-electric DeLorean can actually help UK car owners. Electric cars are considered as vehicles with alternative fuels which means owners of electric vehicles will not pay for congestion charges. Discounts on parking are also possible as electric car owners can enjoy discounts on parking permits in most cities of the UK. Electric car owners also save on road tax since the VED or Vehicle Excise Duty is based on CO2 emissions. Since electric vehicles don’t emit anything, owners of the vehicle don’t have to pay for road tax. Some companies also charge owners low priced car insurance on the vehicles.

Last but not the least; the government is offering grants to potential car owners. Grants of up to are provided as discount to the final price of the vehicle.

Car Modifying: Turning a Toyota into a Ferrari

The Ferrari 360 currently costs approximately $156,000 second hand which is a large reduction for the vehicle. A brand new Ferrari, will cost a buyer no less than $750,000 and can cost thousands extra depending on the specs of the supercar.

A new trend is emerging for those who really want to have a Ferrari in their garage but can’t afford the new or second hand prices of the vehicle. Some car hobbyists who know a thing or two about modification have successfully changed their Toyota MR2’s into Ferrari 360’s. To the untrained eye, the design is almost flawless.

Any car can be modified or converted into a different model under the hands of an expert. But the Toyota MR2 is considered a special vehicle for Ferrari 360 because the base design of the vehicle is very similar to the Ferrari. This means, only a few modifications are required before the MR2 becomes a great looking Ferrari 360 by design.

The modification capabilities of the Toyota MR2 are so impressive that some custom designers were able to modify the vehicle into a Ferrari 460. It’s a bit more challenging compared to the 360 but as the base of both cars is similar it is still possible.

There are already conversion kits available online for owners of the MR2. For only $2,000 (shipping not included), you can have a kit that will convert your Toyota into a Ferrari. You could even buy a used MR2 for less than $7000 which means you could have a good looking replica of a Ferrari 360 for less than $10,000.

2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster Review

The SLS Roadster from Mercedes-Benz is a top of the line vehicle that was first introduced in 2009 in the Frankfurt Auto Show. The car is known for its gorgeous design and powerful engine. The 2012 SLS AMG Roadster uses the same concept as its competitors but has a few tweaks in order to stand out among the other vehicles in its category.
The first thing would-be riders notice about the latest SLS AMG Roadster is that it’s effortlessly gorgeous inside and out. The extended front engine and the slightly higher space compartment at the back complement the smooth riding condition of the convertible roadster. Mercedes-Benz didn’t hold back in extras, as the car comes with 11-speaker system from Bang and Olufsen with 1,000-watt power. It also comes with Ride Control Suspension specifically built for the AMG. It’s a new addition to the 2012 version and its aim is to improve maneuverability.
Under the hood, the SLS AMG Roadster comes with 6.3-liter (actually 6.208 to be accurate) V8 Engine. Its powerful engine comes with 571HP and the vehicle’s design was made to control the pressure coming from the engine. This means a better and faster driving experience.
The only problem with the SLS AMG Roadster is its noise. The powerful engine and the cars design have made the vehicle easy to maneuver but it is still a little bit noisy. However a powerful engine that roars in the road could easily turn heads, especially if it has a maximum speed capacity of up to 197 miles per hour.

Golf Cabriolet Convertible 2012 Review

The 2012 Golf Cabriolet is the sixth iteration of Volkswagen’s Golf line of vehicles. Although the first models were impressive in their own right, the latest iteration comes with something impressive and unique at the same time. It comes with the expected power and maneuverability from Volkswagen but it comes with something else that makes it a head turner – a feature not common in many of the Volkswagen vehicles.

Convertible Cloth Top

The unique feature of the 2012 Golf Cabriolet is its cloth top. Other convertibles use metal roofs for durability but this doesn’t mean that the cloth top of Golf Cabriolet is unreliable. In fact, the cloth top on the Golf Cabriolet looks secure when installed. Removing the roof is very easy and no additional adjustments are required.

One of the reasons why cloth top are used in this iteration of Golf Cabriolet is due to size. The roof is relatively smaller than a metal counterpart and would take less room in the boot. But even though it’s not metal because of necessity, Volkswagen created an impressive top down.

Impressive Engine

Although the vehicle is a relatively small motor vehicle, it still comes with an impressive engine that can deal with basic road conditions. The most powerful version of 2012 Golf Cabriolet is the 210-hp with 2.0 liter engine. The engine with the least power is still very impressive as it comes with 105-hp, 1.2-liter engine.

The New Ultra Mini 4x4’s

A small 4x4 offers a perfect combination of elegance, power and practicality. Every Mini 4x4 can easily load up to five passengers with enough space in the back for additional baggage. Small families will love this type of vehicle and yuppies will enjoy driving the car because of its appeal.

There is currently three Mini 4x4s vying for every car buyer’s attention: the Q3 from Audi, X1 from BMW and Evoque from Range Rover. Each of these vehicles has specific capability which makes it attractive for a specific market.

Audi Q3 – Focus on Simplicity

The Audi Q3 is an impressive vehicle perfect for families who simply want to have a Mini 4x4 that works. It’s a diesel-powered vehicle with a simplified design including the interior. Simplicity doesn’t mean it does not have any elegance inside because it comes with modern features. Unfortunately, it’s designed for urban driving because it’s not as powerful compared to other vehicles.

BMW X1 – Elegant Design

The first thing any car buyer will notice about the BMW X1 is its elegant design. BMW really knows how to design a vehicle and it shows in the X1. Although it looks longer, it’s actually almost the same with other models. The X1 is well known for its stability and easy handling.

Ranger Rover Evoque – Power over Design

The Evoque is all about power and it shows in the design. It looks as gorgeous as the X1 but the front body size is bigger than the rest. The 2.2-liter turbo diesel or the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine should be more than enough to handle any hauling challenges.
